CHALLENGE
M2 approached me to create a logo animation video that aligns with its existing logo, within 10-15 seconds. The video needed to visualize M2’s identity as a church community, using their visual identity system ( four gradient colors and geometric shapes from the logo). Since the logo animation will be primarily used for the service opening, it needs to have a delightful and hopeful feeling.

SOLUTION
Since M2 has a solid brand system, I landed on to simple 2D abstract geometric style in order to have a consistency. In order to efficiently highlight M2’s mission as a church community, I developed a storyline by using the abstract geometric shapes. In addition, the delightful music and animation style bring this logo animation to life, which is deserving as a service opener.

APPROACH
For this project, my initial role was to provide structure and a storyline to help them communicate their concept visually. I used the abstract geometric shapes to represent how M2 Church embraces others, and eventually influence and spread the light to the others.

Set up a hero to go on a journey
I gave a hero characteristic to blue gradient circle, as it goes through the journey.
The hero meets God and discovers Heaven
As I developed the storyline, I was inspired by how the Bible scripture captures heaven. Heaven consists of 12 walls of beautiful stones, and the street was made of transparent pure gold. I created abstract kaleidoscope patterns to visualize the heaven and created simple geometric shapes in different colors to represent the stones of the heaven’s wall.Revelation 21:19-21
19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[a] 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
Influencing and spreading the light to the others
To highlight M2’s mission to spread light to the others, I created a scene that our hero is enlightened by God’s word; transforming into gradient color. Then they all morph into white graphic elements to complete the logo.
